PSHE

At Chenies School PSHE is at the core of what we do and enables our children to become independent, confident, healthy and responsible members of society, as well as developing the “whole child” intellectually, morally, socially and spiritually. Through our whole-school approach to PSHE, it is our belief that excellence in these areas will lead to excellence across the curriculum and beyond in later life. Our PSHE curriculum equips children with relevant and meaningful content, which is supported through a strong emphasis on emotional literacy, building resilience and nurturing mental and physical health. With an ever changing society, we are able to provide our children with a strong understanding of the diverse world around them and support them in playing a positive role in contributing to the school and the wider community. 

We follow a two year curriculum cycle across the foundation curriculum, ensuring that children cover all areas of the subject during their 2 years in a class.  This ensures all areas of the National Curriculum are covered and embedded.
Whilst our children are taught in a mixed class, different skills are developed in each year group as they progress through the school within each subject.
Chenies PSHE Policies
 

These policies cover Chenies school’s approach to PSHE, Relationships Education and Sex Education. They were written by the PSHE lead (using relevant national and local guidance and guidance from the Buckinghamshire County Council Public Health PSHE lead) and in consultation with school staff, governors and parents.

School staff were given the opportunity to look at the policies and make recommendations and then parents were consulted on the content of the policies (remotely due to Covid-19 restrictions at the time). Pupils will be involved in future revisions of these policies through their evaluation of the provision of PSHE at Chenies School and the identification of key needs. Parents and carers will be informed about changes to the policies through letters sent home and via email. 

The personal, social, health and economic development of our pupils is a vital element of education and we aim to work collaboratively with parents and carers to ensure our children are well informed and supported to make healthy, safe and positive choices in all aspects of their daily lives.
